Slow down and enjoy life. It's not only the scenery you miss by going too fast -- you also miss the sense of where you are going and why." -- Eddie Cantor

A Philosophical Tale... of Hegel

November 7th 2006 04:33
A philosophical tale …
Of Hegel…penned,
...for a philosophical friend....

…Hegel's abstractions of weave…
Of inner and outer,
Objective and subjective…idealistic,
...pantheistic Monism…
Absolute spirit…and a
God’s eye view…

Existentialist, Marxist…
Or metaphysical, critical, dogmalian Kant…
All upon Hegel’s Phenomenology…
Did they rant…

Splitting to the left and right,
History, science, theology …
…like serpents…
On an eternal Caduceus,
…together entwined…
and firmly planted
...in eternal ground...

I'll drink to good health...

Reminds me of the Monty Python philosopher's drinking song.

Immanuel Kant was a real piss-ant who was very rarely stable.
Heideggar, Heideggar was a boozy beggar who could think you under the table.
David Hume could out-consume Wilhelm Freidrich Hegel.
And Whittgenstein was a beery swine who was just as sloshed as Schlegel.
There's nothing Nieizsche couldn't teach 'ya 'bout the raising of the wrist.
Socrates, himself, was permanently pissed.
John Stewart Mill, of his own free will, after half a pint of shanty was particularly ill.
Plato, they say, could stick it away, half a crate of whiskey every day!
Aristotle, Aristotle was a bugger for the bottle,
And Hobbes was fond of his Dram.
And Rene Descartes was a drunken fart:
"I drink, therefore I am."
Yes, Socrates himself is particularly missed;
A lovely little thinker, but a bugger when he's pissed.

More a copy and paste job than a type-out... I notice several awful spelling mistakes... but anyway, glad you liked it.
