Holiday Wishes

I'm sorry I haven't been around much but I have been fighting off whatever this most recent bug that has been going around.
I wanted to collect messages from others and post them here for the troops but I have changed my mind and decided to ask all of you who take the time to visit this page to leave your own message to those who are far from home this season and to their families as well.
Please keep in mind this week as you sit down with your loved ones and enjoy a day or even days together that there are many who will have Christmas in a mess tent or a mess hall far from home and there will be families on this side with only one real wish for Christmas and that will be a call from their loved one.
Please keep the messages to good wishes and support, we can discuss politics another time. You don't have to leave your name if you don't wish to do so but please do leave a message.
If you know of a service member who needs to be able to make a call home you can request a 10 minute calling card from operation uplink or if you prefer you can make a donation. My husband recieved a few of these while he was in Iraq and those ten minutes made a world of difference on both our morale and our budget. I don't endorse a great many charities because I have limited experience but Operation Uplink is one of the finest I have ever seen.
Operation Uplink
My own message to our troops and families.
Without you and those who have come before you, we would not be free to celebrate the holidays in any way we see fit. Because of you, you live in freedom and for that we all owe you a huge debt of gratitude. The price of freedom is not only paid on the frontlines but back home as well. My prayer for all of you is that you are soon reunited with your loved ones in a safe and free world. God Bless and thank you.

One night I dreamed I was walking along the beach with the Lord. Many scenes from my life flashed across the sky. In each scene I noticed footprints in the sand. Sometimes there were two sets of footprints, other times there were one set of footprints. This bothered me becasue I noticed theat during the low periods of my life, when I was suffering form anguish, sorrow or defeat, I could see only one set of footprints. So I said to the Lord, "You promised me Lord, that if I followed you, you would walk with me always. But I have noticed that during the most trying periods of my life there have only been one set of footprints in the sand. Why, when I needed you most, have you not been there for me?" The Lord replied, "The times when you have seen only one set of footprints in the sand, is when I carried you."
