Little Things
November 20th 2006 03:47
It's funny how life changes without notice. I have never been one to get overly excited about the holidays but this year, I am actually looking forward to them.
No we don't have any huge plans and in fact my request for the holidays was one thing: I want to stay close to home.
We tend to travel for the holidays and while my husband seems to thrive back in his old home, I am always waiting to return to my own home.
I find that little things make all the difference in my life these days. Usually hunting season makes me rather cranky because I tend to have an absentee husband but now I am just happy to know that he will be coming through the door sometime before the next morning. I really don't need much else.
I find myself thinking about the troops a great deal lately. Maybe it's the time of year, maybe it is that we said goodbye to a friend the other day and another friend put her husband on a plane for active duty. I just know that the closer the holidays approach the more my heart aches for the families that are apart.
Cherish those that you love, let the small stuff go it really won't make a difference a month down the road anyway and as you sit down with your family on Thanksgiving Day say an extra prayer for the families that won't be together.

Beautifully and clearly expressed showing what a caring person you are.
It is time to think about others.
